Two more NAIA baseball games were played today in Lewiston, despite an intermission for thunderstorms in the area. Tennessee Wesleyan trumped Southeastern in game one, while Taylor defeated William Carey in the Thursday night game to create a three-way tie in the bracket.
Per the tournament guidelines, “If after Game 17 three teams remain, the team with the most games played receives a bye to Game 19. If there is a tie for games played, the team that won the head-to-head matchup in the tournament shall receive a bye to Game 19. If the tie is still not able to be broken, the higher seed shall advance to Game 19.”
Taylor and Tennessee Wesleyan each played five games in the tournament, but did not go head-to-head. Therefore, Taylor advances to the championship game as the overall No. 1 seed. The Trojans await the winner of Friday’s matchup between Tennessee Wesleyan and William Carey.
