LEWISTON, Idaho – Bryce Giles’ two-run home run highlighted a five-run second inning as top-seeded Tennessee Wesleyan dispatched No. 8 Indiana Tech to the elimination bracket with an 11-3 victory Saturday in the 2019 Avista NAIA World Series at Lewis-Clark State College’s Harris Field.

Giles’ blast came with two out and after the Bulldogs (53-9) already had plated three runs on a doubles by Jhosmel Rodriguez and Tyler Reichenborn and a triple from Day Fry. And after its five-run inning, Tennessee Wesleyan put together a string of six one-run innings to build their final total of 11.

Giles and Reichenborn had two RBI for the Bulldogs as did Aloysius Cruz. Cole Bellair went seven innings to pick up the victory.

Indiana Tech (42-15-1) scored once in the sixth and twice in the ninth but never seriously challenged the Bulldogs.

Indiana Tech now takes on defending champion Southeastern Monday at 11:30 a.m. For the Bulldogs, their next challenge is Monday’s 3 p.m. game against Georgia Gwinnett.
