LEWISTON, Idaho – A two-run triple from Nick Barnes helped push Georgia Gwinnett to a 3-0 first-inning lead and give the Grizzlies the momentum as they rolled to a 9-3 victory over Bellevue University to stay alive in the 2019 Avista NAIA World Series.

The Grizzlies (48-12) added one run in the third then opened the game up further with a four-run fourth – a total they achieved with just one hit in the inning. Bellevue had single-run innings in the third, seventh and eighth but never gained the momentum to seriously challenge Georgia Gwinnett.

Cam Coursey led the Grizzlies with three hits in five at-bats with Barnes finishing with four RBI on two hits.

Greg Loukinen went the distance for Georgia Gwinnett. In earning his 10th win of the season and his first complete game, Loukinen allowed just one earned run and struck out five.

Georgia Gwinnett’s Wednesday opponent will be determined by the outcomes of Tuesday’s late games – Southeastern vs. Science & Arts, and Tennessee Wesleyan vs. St. Thomas. Bellevue wraps up its season with a 47-16 record.
