LEWISTON, Idaho – Going into Monday’s scoreless setback to Georgia Gwinnett, Tennessee Wesleyan hadn’t been shut out since the 2019 season – 328 games – and Wednesday, the Bulldogs responded in a big way. TWU belted four home runs and eliminated Webber International (Fla.) from the 2025 Avista NAIA World Series, 17-7, at Harris Field in Lewiston.

Daniel Stewart was 4-for-5, for Tennessee Wesleyan, including a ninth-inning home run, one of five multi-hit games for the Bulldogs, who also had three hits from Kolton Reynolds, Corbin Shaw, and Cody McGill. Shaw, McGill, and Josh Shelly had three RBIs, each. Devin Tedders had three hits in the game for Webber, and Jarrett May drove in three runs.

With a run across already for the Bulldogs in the top of the second, McGill launched a three-run home run over the scoreboard in right field, a four-run inning for Tennessee Wesleyan that ended an eight-inning scoreless stretch in the 2025 Series.

Webber (44-15) threatened in the bottom of the second with a man in scoring position and two outs, but Kruise Newman’s diving catch in center took at least one run off the board, and the Bulldogs didn’t waste time adding on in the third, as Devin Dixon issued a solo homer to left center to make it 5-0.

Dixon’s home run was the first of two in the inning, as Shaw belted a three-run homer later, extending the lead to eight. Webber International did register an unearned run in the fourth, but Tennessee Wesleyan answered in the fifth, scoring seven runs on RBIs from Newman, Shelly, Dixon, Stewart, and Jack Stevens, building a 15-1 lead.

Webber loaded the bases in the sixth, and May cleared them, smacking a double off the wall in left to make it 15-4, and another double, from Ryan Recio in the seventh, cut it to 10. Bryan Morales extended the game with two outs in the inning, singling in Recio to make it 15-6, and both teams scored a run in the eighth to send the game to the ninth.

Tennessee Wesleyan (48-13) advances, moving into a Wednesday elimination game at 3 p.m. PT, against the losing team in Tuesday night’s game between Southeastern (Fla.) and Georgia Gwinnett.
