Warriors come-up clutch in eighth inning rally

GAME NOTES/HIGHLIGHTS
- Southeastern got the game started with a pair of solo home runs in the second and the third innings. Carter Bridge hit his ninth of the season in the second and Nick Bottari hit his 24th with two out in the third.
- Lewis-Clark State responded with a four-run third inning to gain the lead. Alex Light crossed the plate with one out on a fielder’s choice before Brock Ephan tied it on a sacrifice fly.
- Aidan Nagle and Luke White followed with back-to-back RBI singles to give the Warriors the lead.
- With two on and one out, Colton Onstott hit an RBI single up the middle to score Sam Faith and cut the Fire deficit by one.
- Bridge contributed once again in the top of the eighth. The senior tagged a pitch to the gap in left center to tie the game at four with one out. The native of West Lafayette, Ind., entered the game hitting .625 in the World Series in 2021.
- Raymond Gonzalez entered as a pinch hitter and did his job with runners at second and third. The switch hitter flied out in foul territory on the right field line, but got it deep enough for Pedro Castellano to score from third to give Southeastern its first lead since the third inning.
- Thomas Broyles added to that total on the next at-bat. Broyles singled to center, scoring Bridge, and gave the Fire a 6-4 lead.
- In the eighth, the Warriors came back in a bid to extend its season at least one more game. Luke White hit a two RBI single with no outs to tie the game at six.
- With one out in the bottom of the eighth, Matt James put the Warriors back-up. The transfer from East Carolina lined a ball off the left field wall to score Alex Light and give his team a 7-6 lead.
- After Sam Linscott scored on a fielder’s choice, Jack Johnson followed and put an exclamation point on the offensive outburst. The left fielder deposited his eighth home run, a two-run shot, out of the stadium in left field, and gave Lewis-Clark State a 10-6 lead.
